The Dahua NVR is rubbish. Probably all software related. After 2 days of trying to get this to work I gave up. The TP Link software is awesome. I have a VIGI NVR1004H-4P. Turn it on and it just works.

I say to use, need a windows laptop and download the firmware from Bosch website. I was surprised how out of date my firmware was. Upgraded to allow replacing the 3G modem with a 4G one. I did what it needed to do!
After upgrading the firmware (which is quite easy, but requires a programming cable) the installation was a 5 minutes. It recognised the module and simply did the keypad command to send test message and it worked first time! Kept all the old phones numbers on the main board and the flashing of the firmware did not lose any of the system configuration.
